Los Angeles, Feb 27 : Aishwarya Rai is quite in demand in the Hollywood Films even after her engagement with Junior Big-B Abhishek Bachchan. The Bollywood queen continues to get offers from Hollywood despite getting engaged to Abhishek Bachchan, says her international manager Simone Sheffield.
Rubbishing reports that the engagement had spiked Aishwarya’s Hollywood prospects, Sheffield reported: “Everyone is thrilled with her engagement and we have received thousands of email and cards from her well-wishers.”
Aishwarya is one of the few Indian actresses known in Hollywood, particularly after her “Bride and Prejudice”. Her “Last Legion” is releasing in Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain in April. She also got an offer to act in “Provoked”, which got rave reviews at film festivals worldwide. “Provoked” is also slated for an April release in the US, Britain and India during the Easter weekend, Sheffield said.
Asked if Aishwarya has any future in Hollywood, Sheffield said: “Yes, by all means. But it is totally up to her what films she chooses to accept. “She got many offers but she did not accept the roles due to the subject matter, script or schedule. It will take an extra special film to get her back here working in Hollywood in the future.” She also said that Aishwarya was being considered for the roles for not only her looks but acting skills as well. “Her acting abilities are subtle, quiet yet strong and her beauty just screams in your face. But take note, she has done quite a few films that downplay her beauty. To Aishwarya, beauty is temporary but real beauty is within and eternal.” She admits that her films have not done extraordinarily well but that critics have been supportive of her. “Her films did just okay but she received the most encouraging reviews. The critics have been good to her (in Hollywood) and looking forward to her future Hollywood releases. When she makes a live appearance, top photographers make it a point to be present there.”Mumbai, March 5 : The sequel of “Sarkar” will have the bubly trio Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. We saw them together in that sizzling item song in Shaad Ali’s “Bunty Aur Babli”. And now Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law-to-be Aishwarya Rai are teaming up for the first time for a whole film, Ram Gopal Varma’s sequel to “Sarkar”.
“News travels fast! Yes, it’s true Aishwarya has agreed to be a part of ‘Sarkar’ 2. We only need to work out her dates. She’ll of course play the lead opposite Abhishek,” quoted Ramu. Considering how much in the news the pair is, Ramu has got quite a winning combination on his hands. Laughs the filmmaker: “I don’t think that’s the primary motivation for my casting Aishwarya. You see, I’ve been meaning to work with her for some time. Who doesn’t want to work with Aishwarya Rai? But the vehicle has to be worthy of her presence. “I did approach her on a few occasions earlier. Things didn’t work out. I’m glad she’s on finally.”
“Sarkar 2″ which will carry forward the story of the “Godfather”-like political clan will now have Abhishek playing the messianic saviour of the downtrodden. The Bachchan senior has confirmed that he would have comparatively less to do in the sequel to “Sarkar”. But knowing Ramu’s passionate proclivity for the Big B’s histrionics there’s bound to be more of Amitabh than it would outwardly appear possible. “I can’t say right now how much scope the three main stars will have in ‘Sarkar 2′. But Amitji, Abhishek and Aishwarya are going to be seen in a light not cast before,” revealed Ramu.
Aishwarya Bachchan, formerly Rai, made one of her first appearances after her wedding to fellow Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan on April 20, 2007 in Mumbai, India.
Appearing at the Cannes Film Festival, Bachchan said she is still getting used to being referred to by her new last name but likes it nonetheless. "I was kind of getting used to that because it's the first time you're being addressed by a new surname and I've maybe done a double take at times but pleasantly so, it makes us smile, so it's been good," she added.
She was at the film festival as part of L'Oreal's team of models with husband Abhishek. Bachchan has packed all her obligations including press interviews within a two day slot taken out of her personal time post marriage.
Bachchan will return to shooting an epic film with director Ashutosh Gowariker titled "Jodha Akbar" based on the love affair between Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Rajput wife Jodha. She is cast opposite Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan in the film.
